When I was nine years old my teacher, Mrs. R inspired me so much that it encouraged me to pursue a career in education. In fact, I still talk to Mrs. R today. I became a teacher to inspire children, to shape minds, to motivate, to be a person that students feel safe with. As a special education teacher I am an advocate for my students, I set high expectations, I create a classroom family based on mutual respect, I help students navigate the world. I teach reading, writing, math, and science. But I also teach my students how to be a friend and I show them skills that help them cope with big feelings. I became a teacher to change the world but found that it is changing me.

After several different jobs/careers I now have discovered my favorite – teaching students in a Primary (K-2) Structured Class!  It is so exciting to see how much each student grows and develops over three years! We learn, work hard and have fun together every day.
