I spend my days doing what I most love to do, that is… teaching children and being creative.  Inspiring young minds to create brings me tremendous joy and reward.  My students constantly amaze me with their artistic capabilities, perseverance and effort.  I am very grateful to be an art teacher. I truly LOVE my job!

Many years ago I was trying to figure out how I could use my two most favorite hobbies together and make a living with them.  Those two hobbies were… 1) playing and 2) kids.  The answer – PE teacher.  It has been a blast for the last 24 years coming to work each day and helping kids grow physically and improve themselves through physical education.  Though there are tough days along the way, the benefits/rewards clearly outweigh the challenges.  However, I have noticed that, as I’m getting older, the physical aspect of the job becomes more challenging.  At least I don’t have to get a gym membership… my workouts are right here.

Location, Location, Location!  “Oh the joy” to spend your life in a library surrounded by BOOKS and then get to share good stories with kids every day.  I may be biased here but creating life-long readers out of every child may be the most important lesson in school and one I take seriously.  I love that Marcus Whitman has been part of my whole life, from attending it as a child, to sending my own daughter here and being a parent volunteer, to now being it’s librarian for the last 16 years.
